Max Reger Piano Duo
Katja and Boris Cepeda
Katja and Boris met during their piano studies at the University of the Arts in Bremen in 1998. Both studied with the renowned German pedagogue Prof. Kurt Seibert. Their first performance together took place in the concert hall at the University of the Arts in Bremen in 1998, after which followed a concert tour to Ecuador. At the suggestion of their professor, who is from Weiden in the Oberpfalz region, as is the composer Max Reger, they began to explore and study Max Reger's many works. Since then, they have been performing the most important works for two pianos written by the composer, such as the Mozart Variations, which they recorded for Radio Bremen, as well as most of the pieces for four hands. National and international concert tours have taken them to places such as the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Malaysia, the Casa de la Cultura and Casa de la Música in Quito, Ecuador. A concert performed in 2008 at the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, arranged for two pianos by Franz Liszt, as well as the Mozart Variations by Max Reger, represented one of many highlights for the duo. Their repertoire spans from the classical to the modern period; from the latter, works by the persecuted composers Hindemith and Schulhoff in particular.
Upcoming performances will take them to Bayreuth and Sydney in 2012, among others.
